Day 3: Mon 12th – Mezokovesd, Betlian & Kosice - Slovakia

Sunrise 6:17am  – Sunset 6:54pm
Weather Forecast:   28c and sunny
Steps:                        8,599              5.93 km

Departed Eger

at 8:20 and arrive in Mezokovesd at 8:45am
Visited a couple of the little craft museums, that had opened especially for the tour group, as Monday is the day that all museums are closed.

On the road again at 9:45ish. Donna bought a few timber products for gifts for people at home.

We passed through a largish town shortly after 10 and then back into the countryside.  Forested hills and rivers or streams running through the valleys, as we passed at least one camping ground.

We crossed the border at 11:20. An old border crossing which just has the rusting remains of the buildings there.  The country side there is very flat and used for farming. Sunflowers, corn or maize and we just drove past a huge solar panel farm.
We had a 15 minute comfort stop at a local service station and were back on the road at midday.  We continued through a lovely lush valley.
We had a visit to the Manor House in Betliar.

The guide pointed out almost every item in each room and there were many rooms. We finally departed there at 2 pm and drove for about 10 minutes to a restaurant to have some lunch. Another Insight flourish.
Delicious beef & dumpling with a beer. Another flourish from Insight.
On the road again just after 3pm and were at the hotel by 4:30pm.
We did a tour of the Cathedral
Day time

All lit up at night time
with a local guide, plus a walk and talk about the other buildings in the main square.  After the tour had concluded, Paul Melinis, the UK sales director for Insight, offered to buy everyone a drink, as he is flying home early tomorrow morning. Paul has been on the tour with us since Budapest.
After that, Geoff, Sandra, Val, Poolsuk & I went looking for somewhere to have a bite to eat. As lunch was very late and very filling, we only wanted something light. In the end, we shared 2 pizza's between the 5 of us.
Back to the hotel. The rooms at the front of the hotel have no air conditioning, which is normal for this part of the world. A few of us were in another wing and we did have aircon.  The luck of the draw.

Update 13th Sept.  The internet was very slow last night, hence me only updating yesterday today and it is also slow in the hotel we are now staying in, hence me being a day behind with the updates.
